Kokedama Living Planter

Kokedama is a ball of soil, covered in moss, in which an ornamental plant grows.  The Japanese art of kokedama literally translates from “koke” meaning moss, and “dama” meaning ball.  Learn the history behind this art form, and create a living planter to showcase your favorite small houseplant.  We’ll have plenty of inspiring samples to get your creative juices flowing. Be sure to bring your own garden gloves.

$29 fee per person includes everything you need to make kokedamas, created by you!

Pruning Primer

Saturday, February 23, at 1PM

Wondering when and where to prune?  Afraid of removing too much, or too little to make a difference?  The health of most plants can be enhanced by pruning, but it can also be done to maintain a particular size, stimulate production, or make a plant more aesthetically pleasing.  Learn how to make sure each cut is well reasoned, well timed, and well made.

$19 fee per person includes a pair of new pruners to take home to use in your garden.

*Stone Edge Sharpening will be on site to get those pruners and loppers in perfect shape.  Bring your pruning shears, loppers, knives, and other gardening tools, including lawn mower blades, to get them sharpened on site while you wait.  First come, first served. See website for pricing.

 

Orchid Inspiration

Wanna know more about the ever-so-lovely and exotic orchid?  Join us and Ms. Sherri Deck, avid orchid grower and experienced houseplant connoisseur, to explore the art of growing orchids.  Bring your own orchid to learn hands-on how to properly repot it. Be sure to bring your own garden gloves.

$39 fee per person includes seminar, materials for repotting, and a FREE orchid!

Seed Starting for the Vegetable Garden

Saturday, March 2, at 1PM

It’s that time of year!  Even if you have no space for flats and lights, enjoy the process and benefits of growing your own vegetables from seed.  If you have the sunlight and space, you can take them home with you to watch them sprout. If you are short on space, we’ll tend them in our greenhouse until they’re ready for you to take home.  Bring the kids to let them learn first -hand how to grow their own food. Be sure to bring your own garden gloves.

$19 fee per person includes all materials to create a flat of vegetable sprouts to transplant into your garden or container.

Spring Container Garden

Container gardens can be pretty and purposeful!  You don’t need a lot of space or to do any heavy digging for a spring planter.  Learn what plants are right for your container, and get ready to get your hands dirty, too.  Bring a friend or the kids and join us for our 4th annual Spring Container Garden Workshop!  Be sure to bring your own garden gloves.

$35 fee per person includes a 16” container, potting medium, and plants to create a lovely spring garden, designed and planted by you!

Tiny Garden

Miniature gardens are fun and easy!  Create a tiny indoor garden with arbors, bridges, and pathways, all landscaped with miniature plants.  We will walk you through the construction of your tiny garden, including potting medium, plant care, and decorative additions.  Be sure to bring your own garden gloves.

Everything’s Coming Up Roses!

Nothing is more beautiful and satisfying than a stunning rose in your own garden.  But there are so many kinds, and they can be a little intimidating to grow. Grandiflora, Hybrid Tea, Floribunda, Knockout, Climbing, Groundcover, Shrub.  What’s the difference? Where and how should they be planted? When and how should they be pruned? Feeding? Fertilizing? Insects? Diseases? Winter protection? This workshop will cover all the basics, and then some, so you’ll feel prepared to grow your own garden roses.

$19 fee per person includes a Rose plant care package to take home to use in your rose garden.
